Chapter Nine

Gia sat nervously in sick bay waiting for his arrival. The last week had been a dream come true on the personal level. She knew he had some issues, his lack of ability to love yet just one of them, but commitment didn’t seem to be one, or his desire to show his affection in the small things. That was really what had her over the moon, though she’d be the first to admit Dacen was the best sex she’d ever had in her life, that wasn’t what made her heart flutter with excitement, even if she really did enjoy that aspect of things. No, it was the way he held her, caressed her, or the simple and small gestures. He always seemed to know what to do for her too, he paid attention.

Yes, he totally cheated with his magic, but to do that he had to want to. To want to he had to truly care about the pleasures and needs of his lovers.

She’d even convinced him to use her as well, for getting some of that anger out. Not like Leanne though, Gia blushed at remembering the beautiful light blonde’s kink, but she did enjoy a harsh and selfish pounding from her man on occasion, sometimes she just needed her man to take the pleasure she wanted to give, and a harsh almost violent pounding always got her going. Part of her giving nature, and he more than made up for it.

No, what had her nervous had nothing to do with their personal relationship.

Well, almost nothing.

Dacen walked in with a smile, and he took a seat a few feet away on the diagnostics bed. He usually came closer, brushed her face or gave her a light kiss when entering a room, but he seemed to divine her need for professionalism in this moment. No doubt part of his body magic, added to his generous heart and desire to give his ladies what they wanted, made him feel too good to be true at times. No man should be that insightful.

He also wasn’t a pushover, he was intense, powerful, and commanding. His generosity didn’t take away from that manliness that she was so attracted to.

She shook her head, “Thanks for coming. I need your help with something, and your approval for a redistribution of a few resources.”

She handed the data pad to him, and she waited for his response.

It all stemmed back to the mission a week ago. She was no warrior, and while she was accurate with weapons on the firing range and more than competent with them, her body was too slow and her reaction times were lacking.

She was a healer at heart, it’s where her passion lied, but she wanted to be more than that too. She wanted to make more of a difference in battle, and there was only one way for her to do that. Her desire for revenge might also come into that, but she was sure she wouldn’t regret it.
